Details
Summary
CVE-2023-5233 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Font Awesome Integration plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions 5.0 and below, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the 'fawesome' shortcode. Consequently, authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above can inject arbitrary web scripts that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This represents a significant threat, as successful exploitation could lead to unauthorized access, data theft, or other malicious activities. Users are strongly advised to update the Font Awesome Integration plugin to the latest version as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
