Summary

CVE-2023-51451 is a vulnerability in Symbolicator, a service used in Sentry. The vulnerability exists in Symbolicator versions 0.3.3 and earlier, allowing an attacker to send GET HTTP requests to internal IP addresses by using an invalid protocol. These requests can expose the responses via Symbolicator's API, potentially exposing data through the Sentry API and user interface if the attacker has a registered account. The issue has been fixed in Symbolicator release 23.12.1 and Sentry self-hosted release 23.12.1. Mitigations include disabling JavaScript source fetching and untrusted public repositories or disabling Symbolicator if not required for JavaScript and native symbolication purposes. The vulnerability has a base severity of MEDIUM and poses a potential risk to organizations using affected versions of Symbolicator and Sentry.
