Summary

CVE-2023-5121 is a vulnerability found in the Migration, Backup, Staging – WPvivid plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 0.9.89. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the admin settings, specifically the backup path parameter. This allows authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages that will execute when accessed by users. It is important to note that this vulnerability only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled. The potential danger of this vulnerability lies in the ability for attackers to execute malicious scripts on affected websites, which could lead to unauthorized access, data theft, or other harmful actions. Users are advised to update their WPvivid plugin to a version that addresses this vulnerability as soon as possible.
