Summary

CVE-2023-5062 is a vulnerability found in the WordPress Charts plugin for WordPress, affecting versions up to and including 0.7.0. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts using the 'wp_charts' shortcode. Insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes make it possible for these injected scripts to be executed whenever a user accesses an affected page. The base severity of this vulnerability is rated as MEDIUM with a base score of 6.4 according to the CVSS:3.1 metric. Organizations using the affected versions of the plugin should update to a patched version or consider disabling the plugin to mitigate the risk of potential attacks exploiting this vulnerability.
