Summary

CVE-2023-50266 is a serious vulnerability affecting the Bazarr subtitles manager in version 1.2.4. The issue lies in the 'ui.py' file where the 'proxy' method fails to validate user-controlled protocol and URL variables before passing them to 'requests.get()' without sanitization. This oversight results in a Blind Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability, enabling attackers to craft GET requests to internal and external resources on behalf of the server. Although a partial fix has been implemented in version 1.3.1, it only limits the vulnerability to HTTP and HTTPS protocols, leaving other potential threats unaddressed.
