Summary

CVE-2023-5001 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Horizontal scrolling announcement plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to 9.2, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the 'horizontal-scrolling' shortcode. Consequently, when a user accesses an injected page, the malicious scripts are executed.
