Summary

CVE-2023-49950 is a vulnerability that affects Logpoint SIEM versions 6.10.0 through 7.x before 7.3.0. The issue arises from the Jinja templating in Logpoint SIEM, which fails to properly sanitize log data when using a custom Jinja template in the Alert view. This allows a remote attacker to create a cross-site scripting (XSS) payload and send it to any system or device that sends logs to the SIEM. If an alert is created, the payload will execute when the alert data is viewed with that specific template, potentially leading to sensitive data disclosure. The vulnerability has a base severity of MEDIUM and requires low privileges and user interaction for exploitation. Organizations should update their Logpoint SIEM installations to version 7.3.0 or newer in order to remediate this vulnerability and mitigate potential risks associated with it.
