Summary

CVE-2023-49692 is a vulnerability that affects several Siemens products, including RUGGEDCOM RM1224 LTE(4G) EU, RUGGEDCOM RM1224 LTE(4G) NAM, SCALANCE M804PB, and various other models. The vulnerability, categorized as CWE-78 (Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command), allows malicious local administrators to execute commands at the system level after establishing a new connection. The vulnerability exists in the parsing of the IPSEC configuration and is present in all versions prior to V7.2.2. To remediate this vulnerability, organizations should update the affected products to version V7.2.2 or higher. This vulnerability poses a high risk to organizations as it could lead to unauthorized access and control over the affected systems by malicious actors with root privileges.
