Summary

CVE-2023-49568 is a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability affecting go-git versions prior to v5.11. This vulnerability allows an attacker to perform DoS attacks by sending specially crafted responses from a Git server, causing resource exhaustion in go-git clients. However, applications using only the in-memory filesystem supported by go-git are not affected. The vulnerability does not impact the upstream git cli. It has a high base severity rating and can be exploited over the network without requiring any privileges or user interaction.
