Summary

CVE-2023-49290 is a vulnerability in the lestrrat-go/jwx Go module, which implements various JWx technologies. This vulnerability affects multiple products. The issue arises from a parameter, p2c, set too high in the JWE algorithm PBES2-*, which can lead to a denial of service. By setting the p2c parameter to a large number, an attacker can cause excessive computational consumption, resulting in a denial of service. The vulnerability has been addressed in commit `64f2a229b` and users are advised to upgrade to release version 1.2.27 or 2.0.18. No known workarounds exist for this vulnerability. The risk score is 25, indicating a medium severity level.
