Summary

CVE-2023-49285 is a vulnerability in Squid, a caching proxy for the Web that supports HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and more. The vulnerability is caused by a Buffer Overread bug and can be exploited to launch a Denial of Service (DoS) attack against Squid's HTTP Message processing. This vulnerability affects multiple products, including Qtr2eq, Qtr2ep, Qtr2eo, and more. To remediate the issue, users are advised to upgrade to Squid version 6.5. There are currently no known workarounds for this vulnerability. The potential danger it poses to an organization is high as it allows attackers to disrupt the availability of Squid and potentially impact its functionality.
