Summary

A vulnerability, identified as CVE-2023-49251, has been discovered in SIMATIC CN 4100 (All versions < V2.7). This vulnerability allows an attacker to add their own login credentials to the device through the "intermediate installation" system state. As a result, the attacker can remotely login as root and gain control over the device, even after it's fully set up. The affected products include uKN_5A and uHNMWv. To remediate this vulnerability, it is recommended to update the affected application to version V2.7 or higher. The potential danger posed to organizations is significant as this vulnerability grants unauthorized access and control over the affected devices, compromising their integrity and confidentiality.
