CVE-2023-49146, also known as DOMSanitizer, is a vulnerability affecting versions of dom-sanitizer before 1.0.7. It allows for cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks through SVG documents due to mishandling of comments and greedy regular expressions. The vulnerability has a base severity rating of MEDIUM and requires user interaction. While the impact on confidentiality and integrity is low, it poses a potential danger to organizations as it can be exploited remotely over a network. Remediation can be achieved by updating to the latest version of dom-sanitizer (1.0.7 or later) to fix the XSS vulnerability.
