Details
Summary
CVE-2023-49096 is a vulnerability affecting Jellyfin, a media streaming software. In affected versions, an argument injection issue is present in the VideosController, specifically in the `/Videos/<itemId>/stream` and `/Videos/<itemId>/stream.<container>` endpoints. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to inject arguments into the command line of FFmpeg, which is powerful enough on its own. Though the attacker needs to guess a random itemId to exploit this vulnerability, it could still lead to the overwriting of arbitrary files with malicious content. The vulnerability has been resolved in version 10.8.13, and users are strongly advised to upgrade. There are currently no known workarounds for this issue.
