Summary
CVE-2023-49062 is a vulnerability affecting Katran, an XDP (eXpress Data Path) program. The issue allows unauthorized access to non-initialized kernel memory through IP headers during IPv4 encapsulation and ICMP Too Big packet generation. Following a bpf_xdp_adjust_head call, Katran fails to initialize the Identification field in the IPv4 header, resulting in the leak of kernel memory content into the IP header. This vulnerability impacts all Katran versions before commit 6a03106ac1eab39d0303662963589ecb2374c97f.
