Summary

CVE-2023-48712 is a privilege escalation vulnerability found in the open source SSH, HTTPS, and MySQL bastion host for Linux called Warpgate. The vulnerability affects all installations prior to version 0.9.0. It allows limited users with single-factor authentication to impersonate another user's account by knowing an admin username and entering an incorrect password followed by a valid non-admin username and password. Upgrading to the latest version of Warpgate is advised to remediate this vulnerability, as there are no known workarounds. The potential danger of this vulnerability lies in unauthorized access to admin privileges, which can lead to the compromise of sensitive data and system integrity.
