Summary
CVE-2023-48696 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting Azure RTOS USBX, a USB host, device, and on-the-go (OTG) embedded stack integrated with Azure RTOS ThreadX. An attacker can exploit expired pointer dereference vulnerabilities in Azure RTOS USBX, specifically in components of the host class related to CDC ACM, to execute arbitrary code. Affected versions are RTOS v6.2.1 and below. Users are advised to upgrade to USBX release 6.3.0 to mitigate the risk, as there are currently no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
