Summary

CVE-2023-48693 is a vulnerability in Azure RTOS ThreadX, an operating system designed for embedded applications. This vulnerability allows an attacker to perform arbitrary read and write operations by exploiting a vulnerability in the parameter checking mechanism. As a result, privilege escalation can occur. The affected versions include RTOS ThreadX v6.2.1 and below, with the fix included in ThreadX release 6.3.0. Upgrading to the latest version is recommended as there are no known workarounds for this vulnerability. The potential danger posed to an organization is high, with a base severity rating of HIGH and impacts on integrity and confidentiality being also assessed as HIGH.
