CVE-2023-48364 is a newly discovered vulnerability affecting multiple Siemens products, including OpenPCS 7 V9.1, SIMATIC BATCH V9.1, SIMATIC PCS 7 V9.1, SIMATIC Route Control V9.1, SIMATIC WinCC Runtime Professional V18, SIMATIC WinCC Runtime Professional V19, SIMATIC WinCC V7.4, SIMATIC WinCC V7.5, and SIMATIC WinCC V8.0. All versions of these products prior to specific updates are vulnerable. The issue lies in the RPC (Remote Procedure call) communication protocol implementation, which fails to handle malformed RPC messages properly. An attacker can exploit this flaw to cause a denial of service condition in the RPC server. It is recommended that users apply the necessary patches or updates to mitigate this risk.
