CVE-2023-47271

Summary

CVE-2023-47271 is a vulnerability affecting PKP-WAL, or PKP Web Application Library, before version 3.3.0-16. This library, used in Open Journal Systems (OJS) and other products, fails to verify the file type of a file named in an XML document before processing it as an issue cover image. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by providing a malicious file, such as an executable, disguised as an image, leading to potential code injection or other security risks. It is recommended that users update their PKP-WAL installation to the latest version to mitigate this issue.
