Summary

CVE-2023-47122 is a vulnerability affecting versions of gitsign (0.6.0 and prior to 0.8.0) software used for keyless Git signing with Sigstore. This vulnerability allows for potential manipulation of signatures if the upstream Rekor server is compromised, potentially leading gitsign clients to trust incorrect signatures. The default public good instance, rekor.sigstore.dev, is not affected by this issue. The vulnerability was fixed in version 0.8.0, and there are no known workarounds available. The base severity of this vulnerability is rated as MEDIUM with a base score of 5.3 according to the National Vulnerability Database (NVD).
