Summary

CVE-2023-47118 is a heap buffer overflow vulnerability affecting ClickHouse server, an open-source column-oriented database management system. The vulnerability allows an attacker to crash the ClickHouse server process by sending a specially crafted payload to the native interface on port 9000/tcp. The issue can also be triggered via HTTP protocol, but requires a valid credential. The vulnerability has been fixed in versions 23.10.2.13-stable, 23.9.4.11-stable, 23.8.6.16-lts, and 23.3.16.7-lts of ClickHouse server. This vulnerability poses a high risk to organizations as it can be exploited remotely without authentication and can lead to denial of service attacks on ClickHouse servers handling real-time analytical data reports.
