Details
Summary
CVE-2023-46248 is a critical vulnerability affecting the Cody AI VSCode extension versions 0.10.0 through 0.14.0. This vulnerability allows for remote code execution when a user with the extension installed opens a malicious repository and runs a Cody command such as /explain or /doc. The attacker can modify the Cody configuration file `.vscode/cody.json` to overwrite Cody commands, enabling arbitrary code execution on the user's machine. The vulnerability has a low exploitability rating and requires the user to have a malicious repository loaded and execute the overwritten command in VS Code. It is important for organizations to update their Cody AI VSCode extension to a non-vulnerable version to remediate this issue and prevent potential harm to their systems.
