Summary

CVE-2023-46118 is a vulnerability that affects RabbitMQ, a multi-protocol messaging and streaming broker. The vulnerability lies in the HTTP API, which does not enforce an HTTP request body limit. This makes it susceptible to denial of service (DoS) attacks using very large messages. An authenticated user with sufficient credentials can exploit this vulnerability by publishing large messages over the HTTP API, leading to the termination of the target node due to an "out-of-memory killer"-like mechanism. The vulnerability has been patched in versions 3.11.24 and 3.12.7. This vulnerability poses a medium risk to organizations, with a base severity score of 4.9 out of 10 and an impact score of 3.6 out of 10.
