Summary

CVE-2023-45669 is a vulnerability in WebAuthn4J Spring Security, a library that provides Web Authentication specification support for Spring applications. The vulnerability affects versions prior to 0.9.1.RELEASE and involves improper handling of the signature counter value. As a result, if an attacker clones a valid authenticator and returns an incremented signature counter value during authentication, webauthn4j-spring-security-core fails to properly detect the cloned authenticator. This can allow the attacker to use the cloned authenticator without being detected. To remediate this vulnerability, users are advised to upgrade to version 0.9.1.RELEASE. The vulnerability has a base severity of MEDIUM and a CVSS score of 4.8, indicating potential risks to confidentiality and integrity of affected systems.
