Summary
CVE-2023-45174 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting IBM AIX 7.2, 7.3, and VIOS 3.1 systems. A privileged local user can exploit a flaw in the qdaemon command to elevate their privileges or cause a denial of service. IBM's X-Force has assigned the ID 267972 to this issue. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to IBM AIX and VIOS users, as it allows an attacker with local access to gain higher-level system control or disrupt system functionality. IBM strongly advises users to apply the available patches to mitigate the risk.
