Details
Summary
CVE-2023-4514 is a vulnerability affecting the Mmm Simple File List plugin for WordPress. Before outputting shortcode attributes, this plugin fails to validate and escape user input, potentially allowing contributors and higher-level users to execute Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks on webpages or posts where the shortcode is embedded. This issue poses a significant security risk, as XSS attacks can steal sensitive information, disrupt websites, or even take control of user accounts. To mitigate this threat, WordPress users should update their plugins to the latest version as soon as possible.
