Summary

CVE-2023-45139, also known as fontTools XXE vulnerability, is a high-risk cyber vulnerability affecting fontTools library versions before 4.43.0. This vulnerability allows an attacker to exploit XML External Entity Injection (XXE) in the subsetting module of fontTools. By parsing a candidate font with an SVG table, the attacker can resolve arbitrary entities, potentially including files from the filesystem or making web requests from the host system. The affected products include various versions of uLE7FY, uLE7FZ, and others. To mitigate this vulnerability, users should update their fontTools library to version 4.43.0 or later.
