Summary

CVE-2023-44398 is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability found in Exiv2 version v0.28.0, a C++ library and command-line utility for reading, writing, and modifying image metadata. This vulnerability allows an attacker to trigger the out-of-bounds write by tricking the victim into running Exiv2 on a crafted image file, potentially leading to code execution. The affected product is Exiv2 version v0.28.0, while earlier versions are not affected. The vulnerability has been fixed in version v0.28.1, and users are advised to upgrade to this version to remediate the issue.
