Details
Summary
CVE-2023-43810 is a vulnerability affecting OpenTelemetry, an open-source Observability framework. The issue stems from the unbound cardinality of the `http_method` label, which is autoinstrumented by OpenTelemetry. Malicious actors can exploit this vulnerability by sending a large number of requests with randomly long and unusual HTTP methods, leading to potential memory exhaustion on the affected server. This issue only affects programs instrumented for HTTP handlers and does not have filtering for unknown HTTP methods at the CDN, LB, or previous middleware levels. The vulnerability has been addressed in version 0.41b0 of OpenTelemetry.
