Summary

CVE-2023-42813 is a security vulnerability discovered in Kyverno, a policy engine for Kubernetes. The vulnerability affects the Notary verifier component in Kyverno and can be exploited by an attacker who has control over the registry from which Kyverno fetches attestations. By sending a malicious response to Kyverno, the attacker can cause denial of service, blocking other users' admission requests. This vulnerability only affects users who have built Kyverno from source at the main branch, while users consuming official Kyverno releases are not affected. There have been no known exploits of this vulnerability in the wild.
