Summary
CVE-2023-42456 is a vulnerability in Sudo-rs, a memory safe implementation of sudo and su. Versions prior to 0.2.1 are affected. The vulnerability allows usernames containing the '.' and '/' characters to corrupt specific files on the filesystem. This can be exploited by constructing a username that appears to be a relative path, potentially leading to unauthorized access or modification of sensitive files. The affected products include tP80Kx, tP80Ky, and tP80Kz. To remediate the vulnerability, users should update to version 0.2.1 or later of Sudo-rs.
