Summary
CVE-2023-42298 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting GPAC GPAC version 2.2.1 and earlier. This issue enables a local attacker to trigger a denial of service (DoS) by exploiting a flaw in the Q_DecCoordOnUnitSphere function found in the file src/bifs/unquantize.c. The vulnerability does not involve unauthorized data access or privilege escalation; however, the attacker can cause the system to crash or become unresponsive, leading to a service interruption. It is recommended that users upgrade to the latest version of GPAC to mitigate this risk.
