Summary
CVE-2023-42092 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting Foxit PDF Reader. This issue arises due to a Doc object use-after-free flaw, which occurs when the software fails to verify the existence of an object before conducting operations on it. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by creating a malicious page or file, leading the user to perform actions that trigger the flaw, ultimately resulting in arbitrary code execution in the affected system. This vulnerability, classified as ZDI-CAN-21676, was reported to Foxit and impacted versions of Foxit PDF Reader prior to the latest patch.
