Summary

CVE-2023-41893 is a vulnerability affecting Home Assistant, an open-source home automation system. The issue lies in the fact that the `redirect_uri` and `client_id` parameters can be altered during login. This allows an attacker to manipulate the URL where the access token is sent post-authentication. If the victim has exposed their Home Assistant to the Internet, an attacker could send a link with a controlled `redirect_uri` to the victim, potentially obtaining their access token and gaining unauthorized access to their system. The attacker could even register a domain similar to `homeassistant.local` to make their malicious intentions less obvious. This vulnerability has been addressed in version 2023.9.0, and all users are advised to upgrade as soon as possible. There are currently no known workarounds for this issue.
