Summary

CVE-2023-41889 is a vulnerability affecting the SHIRASAGI Content Management System. Before version 1.18.0, SHIRASAGI failed to properly handle Unicode characters during normalization, leading to a Post-Unicode normalization issue. This occurs when validation or security checks are executed before normalization, allowing the resurfacing of Unicode character equivalents. The vulnerability can be exploited by attackers to bypass intended security measures. To mitigate this issue, SHIRASAGI developers introduced a fix that involves normalizing Unicode characters first, then stripping whitespaces, and finally checking for an empty string. Version 1.18.0 and later releases have this patch applied.
