Summary

CVE-2023-4140 is a vulnerability in the WP Ultimate CSV Importer plugin for WordPress versions up to 7.9.8. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers, with minimal permissions, such as an author, to escalate their user role by exploiting the 'get_header_values' function. This can be done by supplying the 'wp_capabilities->cus1' parameter if access has been previously granted by the administrator in the plugin settings. The vulnerability poses a high risk to organizations as it can lead to privilege escalation, potentially compromising the integrity and confidentiality of the affected systems. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update to a version of the plugin that includes a fix for this issue.
