Summary
CVE-2023-40574 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting the FreeRDP software, an open-source implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). The issue lies in an Out-Of-Bounds Write vulnerability found in the `writePixelBGRX` function. The root cause appears to be incorrect calculations of the `nHeight` and `srcStep` variables. This flaw, if exploited, could lead to potential memory corruption. The vulnerability has been patched in version 3.0.0-beta3. It is strongly recommended that users upgrade to this version as soon as possible, as no known workarounds exist to mitigate this issue.
