Summary
CVE-2023-40377 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability affecting IBM i 7.2, 7.3, and 7.4 Backup, Recovery, and Media Services (BRMS). Malicious actors with command line access to the host operating system can exploit this flaw to elevate privileges and gain component access to the host operating system (IBM X-Force ID: 263583). This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as successfully exploited attacks could lead to unauthorized system access and potential data breaches.
