Summary

CVE-2023-40186 is an IntegerOverflow leading to Out-Of-Bound Write Vulnerability in the `gdi_CreateSurface` function of FreeRDP, a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). This vulnerability affects FreeRDP based clients only and does not impact FreeRDP proxies. The issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3 of FreeRDP, and users are advised to upgrade to these versions. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability. The affected products include various versions of FreeRDP and its related components.
