Summary
CVE-2023-39967 is a vulnerability affecting WireMock, a tool used for mocking HTTP services. The issue arises when specific request URLs, such as "@127.0.0.1:1234," are used in WireMock Studio configuration fields. This can lead to the forwarding of requests to arbitrary services accessible from WireMock's instance. The potential attack vectors include the "TestRequester" functionality, webhooks, and the proxy mode. With the ability to control HTTP Method, HTTP Headers, and HTTP Data, an attacker can send requests with default WireMock instance credentials, posing a significant security risk. The vendor has discontinued the affected WireMock studio product, leaving users without a fix. It is advised for users to seek alternative solutions to mitigate this vulnerability.
