Summary

CVE-2023-39612 is a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting FileBrowser before version 2.23.0. Unlike regular XSS attacks, an authenticated user can exploit this issue to escalate privileges and gain Administrator access. The attacker can manipulate a crafted HTML file or URL to trick the user into opening it, leading to the privilege escalation. This vulnerability poses a serious threat to systems using FileBrowser and highlights the importance of keeping software up to date to protect against known security risks.
