Summary

CVE-2023-39542 is a code execution vulnerability in the Javascript saveAs API of Foxit Reader 12.1.3.15356. This vulnerability allows a specially crafted malformed file to create arbitrary files, potentially leading to remote code execution. The vulnerability can be triggered by tricking the user into opening the malicious file or visiting a specially crafted, malicious site with the browser plugin extension enabled. The affected product is Foxit Reader version 12.1.3.15356. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update to the latest version of Foxit Reader when it becomes available and avoid opening files from untrusted sources or visiting suspicious websites to mitigate potential risks to their organization's confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
