Details
Summary
CVE-2023-39515 is a stored Cross-Site-Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting Cacti, an open-source operational monitoring framework. The flaw allows authenticated users to inject malicious JavaScript code into the cacti's database. This data is later viewed by administrative cacti accounts, enabling attackers to execute scripts in the victim's browser. The vulnerability exists in the `data_debug.php` file, which displays debugging information including data source paths and polling settings. An attacker with the privilege to configure a malicious data source path can exploit this vulnerability. Users with General Administration > Sites/Devices/Data permissions can make these configurations through `http://<HOST>/cacti/data_sources.php`. The vulnerability has been mitigated in version 1.2.25. It's recommended that users upgrade, while those unable to do so should manually filter HTML output.
