Summary

CVE-2023-38700 is a vulnerability that affects the matrix-appservice-irc, a Node.js IRC bridge for Matrix. Prior to version 1.0.1, an attacker could craft an event to leak part of a targeted message event from another bridged room, requiring knowledge of an event ID to target. The issue is fixed in version 1.0.1n. As a workaround, users can set the `matrixHandler.eventCacheSize` config value to `0`, although this may impact performance. The vulnerability has a base severity rating of LOW and poses a potential danger to organizations as it could lead to information exposure.
