Summary
CVE-2023-38545 is a critical vulnerability that affects multiple products including t5UtEZ, t5UtEb, t5UtEa, and many others. This vulnerability allows an attacker to overflow a heap based buffer in the SOCKS5 proxy handshake when curl is asked to pass along a host name longer than 255 bytes. As a result, the wrong value can be copied to the target buffer instead of just the resolved address. This poses a high danger to organizations as it can be exploited remotely without requiring any privileges or user interaction.
