Summary

CVE-2023-38495 is a vulnerability that affects Crossplane, a framework for building cloud native control planes. Versions prior to 1.11.5, 1.12.3, and 1.13.0 of Crossplane's image backend do not validate the byte contents of Crossplane packages, allowing attackers to tamper with them undetected. The vulnerability has been fixed in the mentioned versions. As a remediation measure, it is recommended to only use images from trusted sources and limit Package editing/creating privileges to administrators only. The vulnerability poses a high risk to organizations as it can lead to potential attacks compromising the integrity and confidentiality of data within the affected products.
