Details
Summary
CVE-2023-38309 is a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting Webmin version 2.021. The search functionality in the package manager is the affected component. An attacker can exploit this flaw by injecting malicious code into the "Search for Package" field. Once submitted, the application reflects the attacker's input back to the user, allowing the execution of arbitrary JavaScript code within the victim's browser. This can lead to session hijacking, data theft, or other malicious activities. Users are urged to update their Webmin installations to a patched version to mitigate this risk.
