Summary
CVE-2023-38280 is a newly discovered vulnerability in IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC) versions 10.1.1010.0 and 10.2.1030.0. This issue allows local users to elevate their privileges to root access on a restricted shell, granting them elevated system control. IBM X-Force has assigned this vulnerability the ID 260740. This escalation of privilege can potentially be exploited by attackers to gain unauthorized access and execute malicious commands on the affected HMC system. IBM strongly recommends users to apply the available patches to mitigate this vulnerability.
