CVE-2023-3817
CVSS 3.1 Score 5.3 of 10 (medium)
Details
Summary
CVE-2023-3817 involves a vulnerability in OpenSSL's DH_check() function, which can cause excessive delays when checking excessively long DH keys or parameters. This issue arises due to the function's failure to properly check the size relationship between the q and p parameters, potentially leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) attack if the keys or parameters are obtained from an untrusted source. The vulnerability also affects DH_check_ex() and EVP_PKEY_param_check() functions, as well as OpenSSL's dhparam and pkeyparam command-line applications when using the "-check" option. However, the OpenSSL SSL/TLS implementation and FIPS providers remain unaffected.
